Building Envelope Webinar Series

Building science is constantly evolving, punctuated by the current challenges we face: energy efficiency, adaptation to climate change, sustainability, building conservation and rehabilitation. The materials and techniques are sophisticated, of course, and more and more efficient. But still it is necessary to control them. To this end, this series of webinars responds to both the fundamental requirements of building practice and the contemporary issues of building science, using an interactive and dynamic approach to understanding, knowing, integrating and performing.

The last webinar in the series will focus on the performance and sustainability of the building envelope throughout its life cycle. The themes of efficiency and innovation will be treated, as well as the deterioration, aging and rehabilitation of buildings. This fifth webinar will conclude the series by addressing the major conservation issues and the strategies currently being put forward in this regard. After participating in the webinar, you will be able to:

  • Know different reference books in terms of sustainability and life cycle and understand how improvements and efficiencies fit into the preservation of built heritage
  • Assess in what context the envelope's existing constraints and conditions influence its performance
  • Recognize the main processes of disorder in the envelope, their causes and their consequences & identify some conservation approaches currently used
